Mr. Mandera is the sole owner of The Custom Companies Inc. a Chicago based “Full Service Transportation” company. Perry Mandera works diligently each and every day to provide customers with the best transportation services and customer service in the industry. He founded the company in 1986 at the age of 29 with one vision in mind, a full service transportation company providing the industry with a one call does it all concept. That original idea along with hard work and dedication has manifested itself into a “World Class Full Service Transportation Company” headquartered in Northlake Illinois. The company has recently distinguished itself by becoming ISO 9001:2008-certified, an accomplishment that only 270 trucking companies in the world have achieved. Perry Mandera offers shipping options that include LTL, truckload, local cartage, dedicated contract cartage, warehouse and distribution services, domestic and international airfreight as well as expedited ground services for critical time sensitive shipments. In addition, customers can take advantage of the company’s Trade Show Services division, which provides same day, next day, volume, or deferred shipment service. Recognized for his excellent business practices, Perry Mandera was named to the Illinois Trucking Association’s list of Top 100 American Transportation Executives of the Millennium in 2000, and was presented with the Leonard Schaller Businessman of the Year Award. Mr. Mandera was also chosen to receive the Italian American Executives of Transportation’s Executive of the Year award.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Perry Mandera believes in giving back to his local community as well as nationally and globally. He regularly supports a host of charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities USA, The University of Chicago Medical Center, The Lynn Sage Foundation, and an organization that partners with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University to provide the public with breast cancer awareness, education, and research programs. Perry Mandera launched his own charity called “Custom Care Charities”, a non-profit endeavor to support underprivileged children. Mr. Mandera is well-known in his community for his philanthropy and generous support of organizations that benefit children and cancer victims. Perry Mandera also serves on the Board of Directors of the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, which aids neglected and abused Illinois children. He is also on the board of the Jesse White Tumblers, a group of acrobats who travel to NFL, MLB, and NBA games to perform. When Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, Perry Mandera’s company transported more than 40 loads of supplies to victims in Louisiana and Mississippi. In another community-building effort, Mr. Mandera has coached youth teams in baseball, football, and basketball.
